Beach Themed Chevron Pillow Cover

Recently my fiance and I attended the wedding of his best friend. It was a beautiful, drizzly Maryland/Ocean City affair, and being that the bride and groom met while life-guarding, I knew I had to come up with something beach themed to make them as a wedding gift!

I found the pattern for this online and modified it slightly because I had a wider pillow than suggested. Here’s the pattern in case you’d like to make your own: Chrevron Stripe Pillow Cover by solgrim.

For the sand colors I used alternating colors of Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Yarn in Fisherman and Beige, changing colors after every two rows. For the last 1/3 of the pillow case I used Caron Cakes Self-Striping Yarn in Faerie Cake. To create the ocean look and get the colors to change when I needed them to, I worked through the yarn cake and cut each color out into their own individual balls. I finished off with Red Heart Yarn in white and double-crocheted to give the last row a fanned-out wave appearance.

I am really happy with the end result of it, and the pattern was easy to follow! I’m hoping I can make more of these for myself in the future.
